Official Toys for Tots Drop Box in Bay City

Your official Toys for Tots drop-off location in Bay City!

Address: 1339 N Johnson St, Bay City, MI 48708
Office Hours: 7:30am to 4:00pm
Deadline: Friday, December 5, 2025

The Toys for Tots general guiding principle is: “We would rather our donors consider what might be an appropriate gift for their own child/relative, purchase the item, and donate to Toys for Tots.”

Preferred Donations (New and Unwrapped Only)

  • Underserved Age Groups: Toys for Tots often notes a critical need for items for two groups:
    • Babies (Ages 0-2): Rattles, building blocks, sensory books, musical toys, teethers, and push/pull toys.
    • Teens/Pre-Teens (Ages 11-16): This group is frequently overlooked. Suggested items include:
      • Sporting equipment (balls, bags)
      • Books and popular teen book series
      • Electronics (hand-held games, radio-controlled cars/trucks)
      • Makeup, cosmetics, and bath gift sets
      • Purses, watch/wallet gift sets
      • Board games
      • Art supplies, nice journals
      • Hair accessories, curling irons, hair straighteners, hair dryers
      • Skateboards, bicycles, helmets
  • General Suggestions for All Ages:
    • Building sets (LEGO, Duplo, simple model sets)
    • Craft and art supplies (crayons, markers, coloring books)
    • Books (children receive two toys and three books are counted as one gift)
    • Board games and puzzles
    • Dolls and action figures
    • Toy vehicles (cars, trucks)
    • Books are especially needed.

Items That Cannot Be Accepted

  • Used Toys: They only accept new, unwrapped toys. Used items are generally discarded or donated to other charities.
  • Realistic-Looking Weapons: This includes realistic-looking guns, knives, or other weapons. (Nerf guns are generally accepted).
  • Gifts with Food: Toys that include candy or any kind of food.
  • Toys with Chemicals: Items like experimental labs, acid, or crystal projects.
  • Religious Items: They do not distribute anything religious.
  • Clothing (in most campaigns).

The age limit for receiving toys varies by local campaign, but most assist children up to age 12, and many extend this to ages 14-16. It is always best to check with your local Toys for Tots chapter for the most specific needs and cutoff age in our community.

Since 1947, Toys for Tots has distributed
708 million toys to 314 million children!

Partners with Habitat for Humanity

Making A Difference

It felt good to make a difference in our community this week as Smith Mechanical and Gledhill Heating and Cooling partnered with Habitat for Humanity Bay County by installing a new furnace for a program participant.

This is How Habitat Describes What They Do

(but watch video below to hear a participant describe them!)
We are part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Bay County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to:

  1. Eliminating substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes
  2. Advocating for fair and just housing policies
  3. Providing training and access to resources that help families improve their shelter conditions.
